The Assistance Publique Hôpitaux de Paris (APHP, Public Hospitals of Paris) is the public hospital system of the city of Paris and its suburbs. It is the largest hospital system in Europe, indeed one of the largest in the world, employing more than 15.000 physicians in 55 hospitals (ca. 5,8 million annual patient visits). APHP is further linked with all the colleges of medicine of the University of Paris. In the framework of the GAPP project, APHP participates through two of its most prestigious structures, both academic and teaching paediatric hospitals: 1) The Robert Debré University Hospital and its Interdisciplinary Center for Clinical Research (Center of Clinical Investigation, CIC9202) dedicated to the conception, conduct and data analysis of paediatric clinical trials with over 50 ongoing trials. The Robert Debré University Hospital further includes a dedicated Pain Management Unit providing both inpatient and outpatient care with approximately 4500 annual pain management consultations. 2) The Necker – Enfants Malades University Hospital, a structure specialised in paediatric rare diseases. Its recently opened “Mother-Child Pole”, a structure of 50.000 m2, provides pediatric surgery, infant resuscitation, pediatric imaging, cardiology, nephrology, gastroenterology, maternity and neonatology units.
Within the project, APHP will lead all the activities related to the design, preparation and implementation of the GABA-1 trial (WP7) ensuring that GCP principles will be adhered to. APHP will participate as recruiting centre for both GABA-1 and GABA-2 clinical trials and in all the commonly shared activities of the GAPP project.
Florentia Kaguelidou, MD, PhD Doctor of Medicine (2006), Paediatrics Certification (2006), Master’s Degree in Public Health and Clinical Research (2006), Ph.D. in Pharmacology (2012). Dr Kaguelidou is the referent paediatrician of the Clinical Investigation Centre of Robert Debré University Hospital and a hospital and university practitioner in the department of Paediatric Pharmacology and Pharmacogenetics. She has participated in the conduct of more than 40 clinical trials in paediatrics. Her research focuses on clinical trial design and analysis, pharmacovigilance and pharmacokinetic modelling with a special interest in evaluation of analgesics for children and drug development in neonates. She has been teaching Clinical Pharmacology in the University of Paris Diderot Medical School since 2007.
Evelyne Jacqz-Aigrain, MD, PhD Doctor of Medicine (1982), PhD in Pharmacology (1990). Prof. Jacqz-Aigrain is head of the department of Paediatric Pharmacology and Pharmacogenetics and the Clinical Investigation Centre of the Robert Debré University Hospital. She is a Professor of Pharmacology in the University of Paris Diderot, Paris 7 Medical School. Her research interest focuses on drug evaluation in neonates and children, pharmacokinetics in neonatology and paediatrics and drug metabolism and ontogeny. She is the coordinator of 2 European FP7 projects (TINN: Treat Infections iN Neonates and TINN2).
Corinne Alberti, MD, PhD Doctor of Medicine (1991), PhD in Public Health, Epidemiology specialization (2004). Prof. Corinne Alberti is head of the Clinical Research Unit and the Clinical Investigation Centre – Clinical Epidemiology of the Robert Debré University Hospital. She is a Professor of Epidemiology in the University of Paris Diderot, Paris 7 Medical School. Her research interest focuses on methodology for small clinical trials, recruitment process in clinical trials in Paediatrics and validation of health quality indicators using DELPHI method. She leads the research unit INSERM UMR 1123 ECEVE (Clinical Epidemiology and Economic Evaluation for Vulnerable Populations). She chairs the Research Committee of the Robert Debré Hospital and is the Health Delegate at the University of Paris Diderot – Sorbonne Paris Cité.
Sophie Guilmin-Crepon, MD Dr. Sophie Guilmin-Crepon is a paediatrician and works at the Clinical Research Unit of the Robert Debré University Hospital.
Olivier Bourdon, MD, PhD Dr. Olivier Bourdon is a clinical pharmacist and the head of the Clinical Pharmacy Department of the Robert Debré University Hospital. He has a special interest and expertise in pain management medications.
Souhayl Dahmani, MD, PhD Prof. Souhayl Dahmani is the head of the Anaesthesiology Department and the Pain Management Unit of the Robert Debré University Hospital.
Isabelle Desguerre, MD, PhD Dr Isabelle Desguerre is a neuropediatrician and works at the Paediatric Neurology Department of the Necker-Enfants Malades University Hospital.
Daniel Annequin, MD Dr Daniel Annequin is a paediatrician and the head of the Pain Management Unit of the Armand Trousseau University Hospital.
